Host Your Own Event: JewPAC

Jewish Programming Allocation Committee (JewPAC)

JewPAC is a micro-grant program to help fund and support students to plan and create Jewish experiences at UNLV, CSN, and NSC. Students can apply for funding through the form below. In the era of COVID-19, all University guidelines and social distancing/mask wearing behaviors must be followed during JewPAC events. Please read the important information below before applying. If you have questions or concerns, please contact our Hillel Director, Kat Sandigo, at kat@jewishnevada.org or set a meeting with her here.

Q: What kinds of experiences can be sponsored by JewPAC?

A: Ultimately, JewPAC funding can go toward anything that inspires your Jewish values or strengthens the Jewish community. This includes (but is not limited to) meals to celebrate the holidays or Shabbat, Jewish discussions, Israel programming, and other religious/cultural experiences.

Q: How do students participate in JewPAC?

A: In order to have your event reimbursed, you will need to complete the following:

  • Fill out the request form on the Hillel Las Vegas website (NOTE: this must be done no later than 48-hours before your event/experience)

  • Wait for approval from the student executive committee//Hillel Director

  • Execute your experience and be prepared to submit the following items to Hillel:

    • At least 1 high-quality photo with everyone at your event

    • An attendance sheet (we will provide you a template)

    • An itemized receipt (i.e., a receipt that lists each item you ordered and its individual price)

  • Submit an evaluation form after your event to secure your reimbursement

Q: What restrictions on what I can purchase with JewPAC?

A: The costs of alcoholic beverages will not be covered by JewPAC, yes even if everyone is 21+. All purchased must also be kosher-style. Please review our Kosher statement below.

Q: How will COVID-19 affect the JewPAC program?

A: The safety of Hillel students is our highest priority at this time. For this reason, the following participant cut-offs will be enforced:

  • Indoor events must have less than 10 people

  • Outdoor events must have less than 25 people

  • Events held virtually have no cut-off

Please also note that:

  1.  JewPACs must be done in accordance with University guidelines, and

  2. All in person gatherings must enforce proper distancing (six-feet apart at all times) and mask-wearing behaviors.

  3. Funding will only be available for shared meals within households or groups of people that have already been in contact (dorm roommates, apartments, etc.) or for separate meals for a virtual event (watch parties, Zoom Shabbat, etc.) JewPAC cannot be used for any in-person gathering outside of your household or group that do not meet state or local mandates.

Q: Should I stay within a certain price range?

A: We may not approve requests outside of this price bracket (and please be sure to consider tip in these brackets):

  • 2-10 people = $10 per person

  • **11-24 people = $8 per person

  • *25-50 people = $7 per person

  • *51-75 people = $6 per person

  • *75+ people = $5 per person

**Outdoor or zoom only, per state//county mandates

*Note: 25+ person events will only be permitted if held online
